McCains reaction to Russia's invasion of Republic of Georgia.

I know this is probably old news but I felt like this was definitely worth going back to. I thought McCain's reaction to Russia's invasion of Georgia was excellent. Not many people, and certainly not our current president, knew of the Russia's desire to regain its former world superpower status. But because of McCain's experience in foreign affairs, he knew that one day the Russians were going to be back demanding their status as a world superpower be reinstated, he told the Russians they were not going to have it. In fact, he condemned them and demanded that they retreat or face isolation in the world community. While our president was naive enough to think that Putin was a "good" guy, McCain never made that mistake because he knew of Putin's involvment in KGB activities, which one can take a wild guess at what they were; assasinations, murder, etc...

Of course it was the Georgian president who was the first to use military force. What effect, if any,do you think the trouble in Geogia has had on the presidential race. The conventional wisdom would be that any foreign policy crisis will help McCain and hurt Obama. Can you think of any scenerios where that might not be true?

The Georgian president has every right to restore constitutional order in his sovereign country. If he used a disproportionate force, then it should have been the whole international community to condemn him.

You're absolutely right, some conspiracy theories actually suggest that this whole conflict was orchestrated by the American govt. to help a "certain" candidate in our elections.

I think Obama has a lot of influence in Africa, especially the Easter Africa where one of his ansestors is from, I believe. Few years ago during the conflict between Ethopia and Somalia, Obama was able to use his influnce and called for calm in the region, and I believe a lot of people in that region listened to him. Nevertheless, we still sent our bombers there to root out Al-Qaida.
